Increasing transparency in the extractive industries has a positive impact on the current process of reforming the energy sector. Implementation in Ukraine IPVG opens up information to the mining industry, reduces corruption risks, and helps identify governance gaps. Not only the mining sector plays a significant role in the reform process. The importance of the public sector lies in the mediation of the industry reform process, which is very important in local government reform. Representatives of Ukrainian civil society have teamed up with the Energy Transparency Association to focus their efforts on implementing the EITI.

The Energy Transparency Association is a public association formed to represent the interests of its participants and invites representatives from the public to the Multilateral Group on the Implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative. The legal status of BG IPVG is defined by the Law of Ukraine 2545-VIII “On ensuring transparency in the extractive industries”. Thus, the sustainable development of the Association directly affects the work of the EITI BG and the process of implementation of the EITI in Ukraine. The Energy Transparency Association was established on July 8, 2009, but was formally registered on January 3, 2019 to enhance the capacity of the organization and its members to implement the EITI in Ukraine.
